Pakistani security forces on Saturday arrested 40 Islamic militants in restive tribal region near Afghanistan a day after fierce battles here left more than 90 insurgents dead, the army said, according to dpa. "Forty miscreants were captured during operations on late Friday and early Saturday, while 10 dead bodies of miscreants were also recovered," an army statement said. "Complete Chaghmalai is cleared of miscreants." A large numbers of heavily armed pro-Taliban militants targeted a security convoy with rockets and small arms in Chaghmalai area of South Waziristan on Friday, triggering a firefight that left up to 30 militants. Around 60 more were killed in the same district in the afternoon when the security forces repelled a raid on a border outpost.
