Three women were killed in a rockslide at a stone quarry in central Vietnam, raising the number of victims of such accidents to at least 32 in less than a month, an official said Sunday, according to dpa. The women, ages 18 to 35, were digging for stone along with 13 other workers at a quarry in Nghe An province, 350 kilometers south of Hanoi, Saturday afternoon when up to 4,000 cubic meters of rock collapsed and buried them, said chairman of the district, Ho Sy Hop. Saturday's rockslide also injured seven other women, with one of them being in critical conditions. "The accident happened due to poor stone-exploitation techniques," Hop said, adding that no explosive had been used at the quarry recently. The latest deaths have brought the total rockslide toll in Vietnam to at least 32 in less than a month, including 18 in Nghe An's Quy Hop district, eight in neighbouring Ha Tinh province and three in northern Ha Nam province.
