The Russian Embassy in Beirut said the current visit to Beirut by the Arab League's Secretary General Amr Mousa comes within the promotion of the domestic settlement in Lebanon according to an Arab understanding unanimously reached at an extraordinary meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Arab League's member states recently held in Cairo. In its basic lines, the Arab League's initiative underscores the importance of accelerating the election of Michael Suleiman to the presidency and the formation of a national unity government to be assigned to draft a new election law for the country. In a statement issued here today, the Russian Embassy said the Russian Foreign Ministry and officials in Moscow attach a special attention to the Arab League's efforts to settle the Lebanese dilemma and end the presidency crisis. The statement expressed hope that Mousa's mission scores every success.
