King Faisal Research and Islamic Studies center organized, in cooperation with the Embassy of Italy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, here last night a lecture on "European Gulf Relations". The lecture was delivered by Vice-President of Rome-based International Affairs Institute Roberto Aliboni. Aliboni said that the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the European Union have been working to enhance their relations with each other in the light of the political, strategic and economic importance of each of them so as to serve their mutual interests. He pointed out that the Arab Gulf Region is one of the most important regions of the world as regards energy resources, especially crude oil and natural gas. He noted that studies have proved that the future of oil will remain promising. Aliboni said the establishment of a duty free zone between the Gulf region and the European Union will attract more investments to them. As regard the admission of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the World Trade Organization (WTO), he said that development means the European Community will work for the admission of the other GCC member states to the developed economic organizations and enabling them to join the world of free economy.
