A sailor from USS Hopper has gone missing during U.S. Navy operations in the Arabian Sea, a statement from the U.S. Naval Forces Central Command in Bahrain said Friday, according to AP. The sailor went missing Thursday around 7:30 a.m. local time (0430 GMT) while the ship was conducting maritime security operations, the statement said. «A 'man overboard' was immediately called and air and surface forces from the Hopper, USS Port Royal and USS Ingraham began conducting search and rescue operations,» it said. Despite the search, the sailor has not been found and remains unlocated, the Navy said. The name of the sailor was being withheld while search operations continue, it added. Lt. John Gay, spokesman for the Fifth Fleet, told The Associated Press that water temperatures in the part of the Arabian Sea where the sailor went overboard are «favorable» and currently about 79 degrees Fahrenheit (26 C).
