One person was killed and three were injured in a chairlift accident near the Alpine ski resort of Grindelwald, officials said Thursday, according to AP. The incident happened around midday on the Kleine-Scheidegg pass above Grindelwald, said Kathrin Naegeli, a spokeswoman for lift operator Jungfraubahnen Interlaken. Further details of the accident were not immediately available. Mountain rescue officials said other passengers on the chairlift had to be evacuated from the ground as high winds made the use of helicopters too dangerous. Grindelwald, about 60 kilometers (37 miles) southeast of the capital Bern, is one of Switzerland's best-known tourist destinations, drawing in tens of thousands of visitors each year.
