A Malaysian woman was killed while three other members of her family remained missing Wednesday after a landslide buried 13 homes in a remote village in the eastern state of Sarawak, DPA reported. More than 60 search and rescue workers discovered the body of 56-year old Dayang anak Dayak several hours after the landslide, believed to be caused by continuous rainfall in the area over the past week, said state deputy chief minister George Chan. Three other people were still missing, including the victim's daughter and her two grandchildren, the official Bernama news agency said. District member of parliament Alexander Nanta Linggi said the landslide had affected and partly buried 13 homes in the village, adding that other residents have been advised to move out of their homes for safety. "The area is landslide prone and similar incidents have happened there in the past," he was quoted as saying by Bernama. Heavy rainfall in the annual monsoon season has caused tens of thousands of people nationwide to evacuate their homes due to rising water levels as well as landslides.
