A powerful explosion rocked the residence of a congresswoman in the northern Philippines, injuring 11 people, a provincial police chief said Wednesday, according to DPA. Senior Superintendent Alexander Pumecha said the explosion occurred late Tuesday in the garage of Congresswoman Cecilia Luna's house in Bangued town in Abra province, 330 kilometres north of Manila. Luna was inside the house when the explosion occurred but she was unhurt, Pumecha said, adding, however, that three of her children were among the injured. "It was a powerful explosion," Pumecha said. "It destroyed the ceiling and the walls. The glass windows of the house were shattered. The window of a nearby parked car was also shattered." Pumecha said investigators were still determining if the cause of the explosion was a homemade bomb. "We are looking at the political angle," he said. "This could also be accidental." Luna and her family reported receiving threats before the blast.
