ATA, December 26 (SPA) -- Japanese companies will produce nuclear fuel components and will extract uranium in Kazakhstan, ITAR-TASS reported. The National Atomic Company Kazatomprom and the Japanese companies Kansai denryoku, Sumimoto shoiji and Nuclear Fuel Industries Ltd signed a respective memorandum in Alma-Ata on Wednesday. The Ulbinsk metallurgical plant is to produce and supply nuclear fuel components for manufacture of fuel clusters at an enterprise of Nuclear Fuel Industries for further deliveries to the nuclear power plant of Kansai in Japan. Kazatomprom's president Mukhtar Dzhakishev said the Ulyabinsk plan would begin supplies of 20 to 39 tons in 2009.
