French President Nicolas Sarkozy is welcome to visit Iran, Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini was quoted as saying Tuesday, according to DPA. "Iranian officials would consider a visit by President Sarkozy to Iran as effective and constructive," Hosseini told the official news agency IRNA. He was referring to press reports from Paris that Sarkozy would visit Iran if Tehran increased cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Hosseini said a visit would be especially fruitful if it helped strengthen the international community's confidence that the nature of Iran's nuclear activities was solely peaceful. Hosseini added that as Iran considered the IAEA the "only legal source" authorised to deal with Iran's nuclear case, Tehran would put no limits on cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog or on IAEA inspection of nuclear sites and facilities.
