Turkish fighter planes renewed strikes on Tuesday against Kurdish rebels based in the mountainous border area of northern Iraq, a source from the border guard forces in the northern Iraqi town of Duhuk said, according to DPA. According to the Voices of Iraq news agency, Tuesday's strikes hit an uninhabited area called Jum Juhi only four kilometres away from the Turkish-Iraqi border. It was not clear whether the aerial bombardment left any casualties or significant damage. Two days earlier, witnesses and police sources from the northern area said that three Turkish planes hit areas around Arbil province hours after undertaking surveillance operations in the area.
