A total of 7,335 candidates are in the run for 1070 seats of the Lower House of Parliament (National Assembly) and four provincial assemblies in the January 8 general elections in Pakistan, officials said. As many as 2,252 candidates are in the run for 272 seats of the National Assembly whereas the number of candidates for 577 general seats of the four provincial assemblies stands at 5,083. An average of six candidates are in the run to contest each seat of National Assembly and the Punjab Assembly in Punjab.
