Turki disclosed plans to construct main gates of Mina valley to facilitate control of pilgrims and cars flow. He gave an account on the project of solving Hajj traffic jams by introducing railways from nearest cities of Madinah and Jeddah to Makkah on one hand and inside the sacred places on the other. He said trains will contribute to reducing the traffic jam and lessen the pollution problem as well. To avoid jamming around the Jamarat which leads to stampeding to death, last year's successful experience of guiding a group of not more than 240,000 pilgrims per hour will be repeated, he said. On his part, the spokesman of Civil Defense Major Abdullah Al-Harthi said the civil defense has made the necessary preparations for expected rains and floods. A flood drainage system was constructed in Mina this year, he said, adding that a hypothetical experiment two days ago proved successful when a number of government bodies rushed for help and rescue within record time.
