Two light aircraft were involved in a fatal mid-air collision on Sunday in the Midlands, England, Xinhua quoted Sky Television news as saying. One of the planes crashed into a field near Blithfield reservoir in Staffordshire, and two people are feared dead in the incident. The other managed an emergency landing at East Midlands Airport in Leicestershire. It was believed the plane had suffered serious damage to its wheels, but three people on board scrambled to safety. An airport spokeswoman said "the incident involved a privately-owned light aircraft which performed an emergency landing at East Midlands Airport." "The airport runway is currently blocked and traffic is being diverted while emergency services undertake aircraft recovery," she said. All incoming flights are being diverted from the airport. Planes are being directed to land at Birmingham International and Manchester airports.
