Some 350 infants were hospitalized for malnutrition at Adjidarmo Public Hospital, Rangkasbitung, Lebak District, up to December 2007, and eight of them had died, ANTARA quoted a hospital official as saying. Three of the baby patients were in critical condition and needed to be treated intensively, Deputy Director of Adjdarmo Hospital Meutia Elda said here on Friday. Malnutrition patients are vulnerable to other diseases such as tuberculosis, pneumonia, respiratory and indigestion problems, because they lack protein and carbohydrates, she said. Last year, some 1,315 infants and 14,000 children in Lebak were malnourished.
