Prince Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Assistant Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General for Military Affairs and Chairman of Board of Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water chaired a board's meeting here today. At the outset of the meeting, Prince Khalid bin Sultan stressed that the prize serves water sector in the Kingdom, the region and the world. He pointed out that the prize embodies the deep insight of Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, to preserve water resources in the areas of conservation of use, protection from pollution and improvement of quality. During the meeting, topics on the agenda were discussed including the announcement of convening the International Conference on the Use of Space Techniques in the Management of Water Resources in cooperation with the United Nations and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Riyadh on March 15, 2008 as well as publication of the first declaration of the Third International Conference on Water Resources and Dry Environment in 2008. The first Arab Forum for Water of the Arab Water Council will join the conference in its meeting in Riyadh in November 2008. The meeting was attended by members of the prize including the Minister of Water and Electricity Eng. Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Al-Hussein; Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Dr. Mahmoud Abdulhalim Abu Zeid; and a number of officials.
