Japanese carmaker Toyota said Thursday it was recalling 1,500 of its luxury Lexus car range in Germany because of faulty fuel pipes, according to DPA. "The problem is an imperfect welding joint which could lead to cracks in the fuel pipes," a spokesman for Toyota Deutschland said. The spokesman said there had been no problems so far in Germany and the recall action was precautionary. The cars affected by the recall are Lexus IS250 models produced between June and December 2005 and the GS300 made between September 2004 and November 2005. On Wednesday Toyota said in Japan that 215,000 Crown, Mark X and Lexus models were being recalled as well as 49,000 Lexus models in the United States, Britain and Canada. Toyota said there had been 39 defects reported so far, but no accidents. Last month Toyota was forced to recall 470,000 vehicles because of problems with the fuel supply and steering.
