Diplomats from nations involved in talks on ending North Korea's nuclear weapons programme will arrive in Pyongyang on Tuesday to study the disablement of facilities at the main Yongbyon plant, China's foreign ministry said on Monday, according to dpa. Representatives from the six nations will visit Yongbyon from Tuesday to Thursday, ministry spokesman Qin Gang said. Chen Naiqing, the ministry's special envoy on Korean affairs, would lead the Chinese team travelling to Pyongyang, Qin said. North Korea, the United States, China, South Korea, Russia and Japan had agreed to "jointly send representatives" to learn about the disablement, he said. It was not clear if Qin's statement meant that each country would send representatives. North Korea began disabling the nuclear reactor and other facilities at Yongbyon, 100 kilometres north of Pyongyang, under the supervision of US inspectors this month.
