The euro rose slightly Monday against the U.S. dollar as traders consolidated their positions following a volatile week that saw new highs daily for the 13-nation currency. In morning European trading the euro bought US$1.4860, up slightly from US$1.4838 late in New York on Friday _ a day when the shared currency hit an all-time high of US$1.4966. The dollar rose to purchase 108.58 Japanese yen from 108.18 yen on Friday, while the British pound rose slightly to US$2.0677 from US$2.0612 in New York, the Associated Press reported.
