The body of a Palestinian man was found Thursday in the eastern Gaza Strip near the border with Israel, Palestinian medics said, according to dpa. An Israeli military spokesman said the man, identified by hospital officials as Salem Abu Se'dah, aged 19 years, approached the border fence Wednesday night and threw an object over it. Soldiers first fired warning shots and then shot and killed the unarmed man. Palestinian medics also announced that a 54-year-old female Palestinian cancer patient died in a Gaza hospital. They blamed the strict closure imposed on the Gaza Strip since the Islamic Hamas movement seized control over enclave in June. Early Thursday, a Hamas militant Nidal al-Najjar died from a gunshot wound received Tuesday near the southern Gazan camp of Khan Younis. Overnight, three Palestinian militants were injured in an exchange of fire with the Israeli army in the same area.
