The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will participate in the 18th conference for archeology and cultural heritage in the Arab world, due to be held in Algeria on Nov 19-21, 2007. Dr Ali al-Ghaban, the assistant secretary general of the higher commission for tourism, culture and heritage, will lead the Saudi delegation to the conference due to be attended by representatives of 18 Arab countries as well as representatives of Arab, regional and international organizations. Dr al-Ghaban said the Saudi delegation will deliver at the conference a paper on protection of antiquities and cultural heritage. In a statement to SPA, he said the Saudi Government has been giving a great attention to the joint Arab work and to all initiatives which aim at the service of the Arab culture . The conference will provide a good opportunity to the archeologists to exchange views on issues of mutual concern, he said noting that the Saudi delegation will present a proposal calling for registration of Mada'en Salih in the international heritage.
