Iran on Tuesday said direct bilateral talks over its nuclear program with the U.S. was not an option because Washington would continue its hostile policies against Tehran, state television reported. «This sort of comment by the U.S. officials is not new. ... Their attitude toward the progress and development of the Iranian nation has always been negative,» the report quoted Mohammad Ali Hosseini, spokesman of Iran's foreign ministry, as saying. On Sunday, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said U.S. President George W. Bush was focused on diplomatic options to resolve its differences with Iran _ not waging war. «And if the Iranians suspend their enrichment and reprocessing, I'm prepared to meet my counterpart anyplace, anytime, anywhere,» she said.
