The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia renewed its support for the efforts of disarmament of weapons of mass destruction at the regional and international levels. The Kingdom's speech, delivered here at Chemical Weapons Banning Conference by Saudi Ambassador to Netherlands and the Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia to the Organization of Banning Chemical Weapons Walid Al-Kheriji, stressed the importance of making the Middle East free from all weapons of mass destruction. Saudi Arabia called again on the international community to pressure the Israeli entity to ratify the Convention of Banning Chemical Weapons and signing the Treaty of Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. Israel is the only country in the Middle East that has not signed this treaty. Saudi Arabia explained that this is one of the obstacles to the efforts aiming at freeing the Middle East from weapons of mass destruction and hindering efforts to find a just and comprehensive solution to the conflict in the Middle East. The Kingdom commended the success achieved by the Organization at the international level including its calls for a comprehensive and non-discriminatory application of the requirements of the Convention of Banning Chemical Weapons, to achieve its objectives towards full disarmament of chemical weapons and prevention of their production.
