Under the chairmanship of Prince Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, the joint meeting of Ministers of Defense, Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Heads of National Security Services of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries was held here today. The meeting was commenced by a speech delivered by Prince Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz in which he welcomed the participants. "As you know, the Arab Gulf region has gained in recent years much international attention in the field of security, policy and development ," he said. "You do not need to be reminded that we have more than ever to balance between our internal responsibilities and international pressure because of ideological, regional and global repercussions of any conflict that might erupt in the Arab Gulf region. The international community has the same concern about destabilizing security in Iraq as well as the risk of expanding the possession of nuclear weapons by countries in the region in addition to the terrorist threats", he added. --More
