Suspected rebels ambushed and killed four people, including two policemen, in restive northeastern India on Saturday, AP quoted police sa saying. The four victims were traveling in a vehicle belonging to a local political leader when the rebels opened fire, said Assam state Police Inspector General R. Chandranathan. Chandranathan said it was too early to say whether the politician was among the dead. The attack took place in North Cachar Hills District. The area is about 300 kilometers (185 miles) south of Gauhati, Assam's capital. There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
