U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates was due to arrive in Beijing on Sunday to discuss ways to build trust with Chinese military leaders. Gates's two-day trip to Beijing is his first official visit to China. He was expected to meet with Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan and other leaders of the fast-modernizing People's Liberation Army, whose 2.3 million members make it the world's largest standing military.
