President George W. Bush said Wednesday the latest gross domestic product (GDP) figures showed that the U.S. economy is strong. The president said that while some have questioned the strength of the economy, the faster-than-expected third-quarter economic growth figures reported Wednesday showed the opposite. “Here's an indication that it's strong,” he said in a speech to a business group in Washington. The Commerce Department reported earlier that U.S. GDP grew at a brisk 3.9 percent annual rate in the July-September quarter, the best performance in 18 months.
