At the outset of the meeting, the British Prime Minister welcomed the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, wishing him and the accompanying delegation a good stay in Britain. On his part, the monarch expressed thanks to and appreciation of the queen, government and people of Britain for the warm welcome and generous hospitality accorded to him and his accompanying delegation which reflected the deep-rooted relations between the two countries and peoples. Then they discussed the overall events at the regional and international arenas, led by the developments of the Palestinian issue, the peace process in the region, the importance of reaching a fair and comprehensive solution to the Arab Israeli conflict according to the Arab peace initiative and international legitimacy resolutions in addition to the situations in Iraq and Lebanon and the position of the two kingdoms towards them. Also they reviewed the aspects of bilateral cooperation between the two countries and ways of enhancing them in all fields in the interests of the two countries and peoples. In the presence of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, a memorandum of understanding in the field of technological and vocational training between the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on one side and the British government and other accredited administrations in the United Kingdom on the other was signed by Dr. Ghazi Al-Gosaibi, Minister of Labor of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Bell Ramell, Minister of State for Continuing Education and Higher Education. Then representatives of the two sides also signed an agreement between the governments of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom on avoidance of dual taxation and prevention of tax evasion on income and capital taxes. --More
