The joint Saudi-Tunisian Commission began here today its eighth session under co-chairmanship of Commerce and Industry Minister Dr Hashim Yamani and Tunisian Minister of Development and International Cooperation Mohammed Al-Juweini. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Yamani said the volume of trade exchange between the two countries jumped from SR 145 million in 2002 to SR 504 million in 2006. He noted that the number of the joint projects increased from 5 in 2000 to 19 by the end of 2006 with a joint capital investment of SR 529 million. Dr Yamani lauded the role of the Saudi Development Fund in promotion of Tunisian exports, and praised the efforts exerted by the Saudi Arabian General Investments Authority (SAGIA) in attracting foreign investments. Dr Yamani called for intensification of contacts between the Saudi and Tunisian businessmen and organization of exhibitions as well as eradication of all obstacles that might impede the flow of exports. --MORE
