The White House on Friday rejected Russian President Vladimir Putin's suggestion that US plans for a missile shield in eastern Europe are as dangerous as the Cuban missile crisis at the height of the Cold War, the DPA reported. "I think that the historical comparison ... does not exactly work," US President George W Bush's chief spokeswoman Dana Perino said when asked about Putin's comments at an EU-Russia summit in Portugal. Other remarks by Putin suggested "that he thinks we can work together" to resolve the dispute over missile defence, Perino told reporters.
