German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier met Thursday with Iran's nuclear negotiators to discuss the ongoing crisis over Tehran's controversial uranium enrichment programme, DPA reported. The evening meeting with outgoing chief negotiator Ali Larijani and his recently announced replacement, Saied Jalili, took place in Hamburg, where Steinmeier is attending the annual congress of his Social Democratic Party (SPD). No details were disclosed of the meeting, which reports said was requested by the Iranian officials, who held talks in Rome earlier this week with European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana, according to DPA.
