Terrorism International Conference in Riyadh in 1426 H. More than sixty countries and regional and international organizations participated in the conference. The conference made many practical recommendations including the adoption of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' proposal to establish an anti-terrorism international center under the supervision of the United Nations. The proposal enjoyed a wide international support." The crown prince said, "The kingdom is determined to continue its policy of fighting all forms of terrorism. Many preemptive security operations against terrorism cells were accomplished resulting in bolstering public security and safety due to the successful and constant efforts by the security men to root out terrorism. In addition to all successful efforts to safeguard security, safety and stability of the homeland, citizens and expatriates, the security men will continue work day and night everywhere to confront this scourge which is alien to our society." Responding to another question on the same subject, terrorism, the crown prince said, "Saudi Arabia's view is that dealing with the phenomenon of terrorism should not be confined to the mere security aspect of it but it should also be at the intellectual level not only in our region but also at the level of the whole world with all its various faiths. This is one of the recommendations of the Anti-Terrorism International Conference mentioned before. This issue constitutes an important axis in the kingdom's policy and efforts. Hence, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques urged bodies concerned with the media and cultural issues to exert more efforts to confront the phenomenon of terrorism at its intellectual roots. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques stressed that all should be aware of all forms that terrorism hides behind; the falseness of the slogans it raises; the contradiction of its thought with Islam; the need for fighting all of this at the level of the family, educational institutions, preaching, fatwa (religious rulings), social work. The scholars, thinkers and intellectuals had an eminent role in confronting this dangerous phenomenon. The citizens proved to be an aid for the state and the security authorities in this field." --more
