Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of Bahrain, hailed relations between Bahrain and the Saudi Arabia, describing them as historic and deep rooted. This came in an interview published today in Riyadh newspaper.He said that "these relations are witnessing steady development at all levels. The Prime Minster commended the Kingdom's achievements in a record time, pointing out that the achievements have taken place since the Kingdom was unified under the leadership of the founder late King Abdulaziz. From that time, he said, the Kingdom has taken its leading role at the external level and witnessed a comprehensive internal development in various fields in the era of The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and the Crown Prince. Sheikh Khalifa valued the great role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince in addition to their efforts in supporting Arab unity and containing any conflict arising between the Arabs. Sheikh Khalifa considered the Arab peace initiative proposed by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, which the recent-held Riyadh summit has emphasized on, as a historic opportunity for peace in the region. "We hope that the international conference for peace in the Middle East will have positive results that will lead to establishing an independent Palestinian state, provided that Israel complies with the decisions of international legitimacy on major issues and a lasting and just settlement of this conflict is reached", he added. --More
