Saudi Minister of Education and Chairman of the National Committee for Education, Culture and Science, Dr. Abdullah bin Salih Al-Obeid, who heads the Kingdom's delegation participating in the work of the 34th session of UNESCO General Congress currently in progress in Paris, met here on Monday with Director General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Koichiro Matsuura. During the meeting which was attended by Deputy Minister of Education for Girls Education Prince Dr. Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Mishari Al Saud, they discussed a number of topics related to education and cooperation between the two sides. The director general expressed his appreciation of the active role played by Saudi Arabia in the organization's programs and contribution to its educational projects. In this regard, he expressed his appreciation of and thanks to Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, for his initiative in support of the Arabic language at the organization. Matsuura also commended King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Project for the development of education in the Kingdom, expressing the organization's readiness for providing all scientific and educational expertise to promote and support this project.
