Merkel pledges German help for S. Africa World Cup efforts

German Chancellor Angela Merkel pledged Friday
her country's support for South Africa's efforts in preparing to host
the 2010 football World Cup, REPORTED DPA.
Germany would make its contribution to see to it that the 2010
tournament would be "wonderful," Merkel said after emerging from
talks with South African President Thabo Mbeki.
Merkel was due later on to inspect a stadium site for the World
Cup. Germany hosted the 2006 World Cup.
