Sweden Thursday welcomed the outcome of the summit meeting between the leaders of South and North Korea, reported dpa. "It is very heartening that North and Korea have agreed on increased cooperation," Foreign Minister Carl Bildt said in a statement issued after the end of the second inter-Korean summit. Bildt highlighted the statement issued by both countries that said they have taken a joint initiative to launch formal peace talks and increase cooperation in other areas. The Swedish foreign minister also lauded recent progress in the six-nation talks held in Beijing. The talks that centre on dismantling North Korea's nuclear programme involve North and South Korea, China, the United States and Russia. Sweden was last month visited by South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck Soo who said the six-party talks had contributed to a rise in confidence.
