Pakistani troops Tuesday attacked a large group of pro-Taliban militants who took more than 30 soldiers prisoner overnight in the border region by Afghanistan, rescuing nine men and killing 15 rebels, officials said. Thirty-three members of the paramilitary Frontier Corps were seized late Monday when some 400 gunmen attacked and destroyed their camp in Bakakhel in the North-West Frontier Province (NWFP), a local security official said on condition of anonymity. "Up to 15 insurgents were killed in the pre-dawn security operation, while two of our soldiers were also martyred (killed)," DPA quoted the official as saying.
