The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is one of the countries which have been working for confronting the menace of terrorism. On numerous occasions, the Kingdom has emphasized its determination to fight all forms of terrorism in line with the principles of Islam which prohibits killing of innocent people and acts of violence as well as advocates the protection of the human rights. The Kingdom has reiterated its readiness to support the ongoing international efforts for combating terrorism under the umbrella of the United Nations. The international conference for combating terrorism, held in Riyadh in February 2005, demonstrated the keenness of the Kingdom on fighting terrorism. While introducing the aforesaid international conference, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz said the Kingdom had suffered a lot from terrorism and had done its best to confront it at the local, regional and international arenas. The King said the Kingdom would brief others on its experience in the field of combating terrorism. He called for establishing a terrorism combating center. 'Peace, love and tolerance-loving forces will triumph at the end, and will defeat the forces of extremism and crime," the King had said at the Riyadh conference. The King underlined the importance of enhancing the values of understanding and dialogue among the nations, and voiced opposition to the idea of civilizations' conflict. --MORE
