At least thirty people died and over two dozens gripped by serious conditions by consuming toxic liquor in Karachi, police and hospitals said. A large number of persons, who had drunk poisonous alcohol in Karachi neighborhoods of Railway Colony and Mithadar started dying Thursday. A total of 18 people expired. However, the death toll rose to thirty Friday. Nearly two dozens affected persons are still in different Karachi hospitals. Area residents said those struck by the tragedy had got the spurious liquor from a single source located in the vicinity of Chanesar Goth and Kala Pul. The victims, in the age group of 25 to 55 years, belonged to the Muslim, Christian and Hindu communities.
