A roadside bomb struck an Iraqi police patrol Thursday, killing one officer and wounding four others and a civilian, The Associated Press quoted a police official as saying. The explosion took place at 9:10 a.m. (05:10 GMT) near the al-Shaab Stadium in eastern Baghdad, said the official, speaking on condition of anonymity as he was not allowed to speak to the media. Meanwhile, police and eyewitnesses said one person was killed and five wounded in shooting during a joint raid by Iraqi and American troops on a neighborhood in Sadr City. The U.S. military did not immediately comment on the reports of the raid. Witnesses and police at the scene said the 3 a.m. (00:00 GMT) raid was carried out with helicopter support and that a total of eight men were detained and some 12 cars damaged during the operation.
