The death toll of the eartquakes that recently hit Sumatra island till Saturday at 8 p.m. rose to 21 from earlier 17 people and the number of injured victims reached 80, Head of the Crisis Control Centre of the Health Ministry Dr. Rustam S Pakaya said here Saturday night, ANTARA reported. Rustam pointed out four people died, two people were badly injured and 20 suffered minor injuries in Bengkulu Utara district and two people were dead, three were seriously injured and 31 sustained minor injuries in Bengkulu City. According to Rustam, seven people were killed and one was badly injured in Muko Muko district, Bengkulu province. In Jambi province, one suffered a minor injury, he said, adding that three people perished, one was badly injured and one suffered minor injuries in Padang (West Sumatra) while one passed away and three people sustained minor injuries in Solok district (West Sumatra). In Mentawai district, three died and 12 people suffered minor injuries while one was killed in Pesisir Selatan district. Rustam said 81 health workers had been sent to the disaster-affected areas supported by operational funds worth Rp150 million, one million tons of medicines, four tons of foods, 100 corpse bags, two ambulances, two clinic cars, two balloon tents and 400 blankets.
