Tropical Storm Ingrid moved through the open Atlantic early Saturday, but the weak storm was not expected to pose a threat to land, forecasters said. At 5 a.m. EDT (0900 GMT), Ingrid's center was located about 575 miles (925 kilometers) east of the lesser Antilles in the Caribbean. The storm was moving toward the west-northwest near 10 mph (16 kph) and was expected to continue at that pace for the next 24 hours, according to the National Hurricane Center. Maximum sustained winds were near 40 mph (64 kph) with higher gusts. The hurricane center said Ingrid was barely a tropical storm. On Thursday, Ingrid became the ninth storm of the Atlantic hurricane season, which runs from June 1 to Nov. 30.
