U.S. troops killed six suspects and detained five Tuesday in its latest search operations, the military said. Armed men engaged U.S. troops with small arms fire, and the Americans returned fire and also called in aircraft as backup, it said. Six suspects were killed in a barrage of gunfire from the air and ground, the statement said. In another operation, U.S. forces captured a suspect and four other men, the statement was quoted as saying by the Associated Press. Earlier Tuesday, the U.S. military issued a statement saying its troops had killed nine suspects in another raid on Baghdad's Sadr City neighborhood.
