Boeing has postponed for several weeks the first flight of its new long-distance carrier, although the first deliveries of the highly anticipated 787 Dreamliner aircraft remain scheduled for May 2008, DPA reported. The first test flights cannot take place until sometime between mid-November and mid-December, Scott Carson - head of Boeing's commercial airplanes division - said Wednesday in a teleconference. The delay is due to software problems, he said. The first flight for the 787 Dreamliner had been planned for late September. The new aircraft was unveiled in July in Seattle. Chicago-based Boeing has taken close to 700 orders for the long-distance carrier, which has been billed as the fastest-selling new plane in commercial aviation history.
