Mauritania's Minister of Finance and Economy Abdulrahman Wild Hama Fazaz discussed at his office in Nouakchott today with the Saudi relief delegation in charge of coordinating ways of delivering and distributing the urgent relief assistance ordered by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz for flood-stricken people in the Mauritanian city of Al-Taintan as soon as possible. During the meeting, Mauritania's minister extended thanks to and appreciation of the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the prompt assistance provided for flood-stricken people in the Mauritanian city of Al-Taintan and the provision of a grant of $20 million to help alleviate the sufferings of flood-hit people, considering the Saudi relief the biggest and best among international assistance provided for Mauritania. In a statement, the Mauritanian senior official lauded the efforts being exerted by the Saudi relief delegation to meet the urgent needs of those inflicted. On his part, Jeddou Wild Abdulrahman, Commissioner in charge of Social Protection and Food Security expressed thanks to and appreciation for the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for providing urgent relief assistance to Mauritania. The Saudi corporeal and financial assistance package is the biggest among international relief provided for Mauritania, he said adding that "it is not a strange behavior by the government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia who were always the forerunner of good doing in all parts of the world". On his part, Ibrahim Al-Diraiweesh, leader of the Saudi delegation, expressed thanks to and appreciation of the Mauritanian government for its cooperation with the delegation to deliver and distribute the Saudi assistance over the needy in the city of Al-Taintan. The meeting was attended by Saudi Charge d'Affaires to Mauritania Hamad Al-Aqeel.
