Britain is dismissing accusations Monday that their pull out of Iraq is a sign of defeat, CNN reported. British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, reiterated that the pull out of UK troops from their base in the southern Iraqi city of Basra was an “organized” move. Brown was speaking as 500 British troops completed their withdrawal from Basra Palace on Monday. “Let me make this very clear. This is a pre-planned, and this is an organized move from Basra Palace to Basra Air Station,” Brown told the British Broadcasting Corporation. Despite their withdrawal, British troops would still be able to intervene in Basra in “certain circumstances,” Brown said. Basra is the last of five provinces in southern Iraq that Britain had not yet handed over to Iraqi control. Some British forces will remain to train and supervise Iraqi forces.
