A car bomb targeted a Guardia Civil barracks in Spain's Basque region early Friday, injuring at least two guards, police said, according to DPA. The bomb, hidden in a delivery van, went off at 3:30 am (0230 GMT) in a parking lot near the barracks of the Guardia Civil, but outside the security zone, in the city of Durango. The explosion caused damage to buildings. The two injured were standing guard at the Guardia Civil when the car bomb exploded. An hour later a burnt out car was found in the small town of Amorebieta near Bilbao that is thought to have been the escape car of the bombers. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, though Spanish media is calling the attack the first by the Basque separatist group ETA since they ended a 14-month ceasefire in June. Spanish security forces have been on alert since. The group is blamed for more than 800 deaths in its campaign of nearly four decades for an independent Basque country.
