At least six people, including four in the same family, were killed when their house was swept away by a landslide in western Nepal, police said Friday, according to DPA. The landslide stuck the village of Neta in Gulmi district, about 300 kilometres west of Kathmandu, early Thursday as western Nepal was still recovering from flooding that hit the region this month, displacing hundreds of thousands of people. The district police office said a house with six people, including four family members and two guests, was hit by falling mud and rock, killing its occupants. Another 10 families were evacuated after their homes were damaged in the landslide. Police said rescue teams had reached the villages but the search for the victims was being hampered by continuing bad weather. The landslide was the latest weather-related natural disaster to hit the region, which has seen some of the worst flooding in recent times as well as large-scale landslides. At least 146 people have now died in landslides and flooding across Nepal since the monsoons began nearly three months ago.
