Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe arrived in India's eastern city of Kolkata on Thursday for a day-long visit during which he was scheduled to inaugurate an India-Japan cultural centre and meet relatives of a pro-JapanIndian independence hero, according to DPA. Abe, who flew into Kolkata after concluding his meetings with Indian leaders in New Delhi, was received by the state chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya and other senior officials at the city airport. The 53-year-old Japanese leader was to inaugurate the Rabindra-Okakura Bhavan, an India-Japan institution which would foster cultural ties between the two Asian countries.
