Siemens China has fired 20 employees for questionable conduct in connection with corruption charges against the German industrial giant, it was confirmed Thursday, according to DPA. They were dismissed for "deeds that the company did not accept," Richard Hausmann, president of Siemens China, told Chinese journalists at a round table discussion in Shanghai, according to participants. "We found some cases and are working on them ... there are clear consequences in those cases," Hausmann said. New Siemens' CEO, Peter Loescher, who was on his first visit to China, was present at the press conference and said that Siemens will cooperate fully with relevant authorities. Hausmann rejected recent allegations in German press reports, that up to over half of its China operations are tainted by bribery. The investigation in China is ongoing, the executives said.
